The desert is truly a magical place to revive your spirit, surrender to elemental wisdom, and plant powerful intentions at the turning of the seasons! This weekend retreat is open to all genders.

Kat Mills

I have been on multiple retreats in Joshua Tree, from silent meditation to sacred women's gatherings, and I have experienced deep transformation on this land first-hand. I am honored to offer these practices during our short and precious time together. We will take our eyes away from screens and out onto the vast desert landscape. We will move our bodies and use our voices, understanding and respecting the elements within and without. We will sit in two ceremonies, cacao and tea, both of which I began my relationship with in the desert. Retreat means to go inward, this is not a time to escape, but a time to reflect and give love to the forgotten parts of ourselves.

For over ten years, I've been exploring the yogic, buddhist, and tantric arts, focusing on Classical Hatha Yoga and Tantric Meditation for the past seven years. These practices are rooted in ancient lineages, and I am fortunate to have received direct transmissions of their knowledge from my primary teacher Yogi Charu, (an inducted disciple of the Saraswati lineage and brahmin in the Bhakti tradition). I also study traditional tea ceremony, through which the teachings of Zen Buddhism are woven. I practice in the Urasenke tradition under the tutelage of Japanese Tea Master Sosei Matstumoto.

Julia Corbett

It started ten years ago, with a journey to Hawaii. The cacao tree, the pods, the process. My first experience on the Big Island brought me into a state of wonder, how cacao is made into chocolate, and how heart opening this medicine can be. A blissful encounter that expanded with depth, into my heart and out of my heart. There is much more than bliss that cacao can bring us into, the full spectrum of feeling can be experienced for the open. Its all an extension of  Love, yet experienced in so many different ways. Through my personal journey with cacao, I have surrendered into this unknown state, and the beauty that can rise out of it. The perceived positive or negative effects, you can choose to participate in.

I have also worked with cacao in a culinary way through my company Dessert Medicine, where I produce chocolate bars. The alchemy of creating a delicious flavor is just as much a part of the feeling it creates. A whole package, of goodness and delight! Learning about the chemistry of cacao, and what it takes to make a quality product has given me a deeper understanding of the cacao plant and the importance of infusing Love into our food.
